In order to become licensed to sell real estate in the state of Pennsylvania, the candidate must successfully complete 75 hours of real estate instruction from a state accredited school. The Real Estate Academy offers the Real Estate Practices and Fundamentals course to satisfy the 75-hour requirement. After successfully completing the course, candidates are given information on how to register with PSI to take the state issued exam. That information can be found in the PSI Candidate Bulletin on the PSI website. Candidates have 5 years from the completion date of their pre-licensing course to take and pass the state examination. Additionally, a completed Criminal Background Check will need to be performed (valid for up to 90 days). Once the candidate has completed the state Real Estate Salesperson Examination with a passing grade, he or she is eligible to affiliate with a licensed real estate broker and obtain a Salesperson’s Real Estate license.
Continuing Education
PA Licensees are required to complete 14 hours of continuing education every 2 years to qualify for license renewal.
Please refer to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission website for any additional information or state requirements.
