NJ Licensing Requirements

Licensing Requirements
In order to become licensed to sell real estate in the state of New Jersey, the candidate must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and complete 75 hours of real estate instruction from a state accredited school. The Weichert Real Estate School is state accredited and offers the Pre-licensing course to satisfy the 75-hour requirement.
After successful completion of the course, candidates have 1 year from the completion date of their pre-licensing course to take and pass the state examination administered by PSI, to complete the fingerprinting process, and file an application for licensure through a sponsoring real estate broker.

Continuing Education

NJ Real Estate Licensees are required to satisfy one of the following to qualify for license renewal:
1. Completion of 12 hours of continuing education applicable to the license term
2. Completion of one of more broker pre-licensure education courses
3. Salespersons initially licensed in the second year of the NJ real estate license term are not required to complete continuing education
